  5. Beatitudes to the crowds that had gathered to
  6. hear Him.

  8. "And He opened His mouth, and taught them,
  9. saying:
  10. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is
  11. the kingdom of .
  12. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall
  13. be comforted.
  14. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit
  15. the earth.
  16. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst
  17. after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
  18. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall
  19. obtain mercy.
  20. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall
  21. see God.
  22. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall
  23. be called the children of God.
  24. Blessed are they which are persecuted for
  25. righteousness' sake: for theirs is the
